Glycemic Index List
I have compiled a low glycemic index list of foods to help uncover the mystery of low glycemic foods. Low glycemic foods have a glycemic index under 55. They're sometimes called "slow" foods because they break down into blood sugar slowly. They maintain proper levels of insulin and blood glucose preventing a "crash" after eating.
Food that has a high glycemic index spikes your blood sugar which forces your pancreas to work overtime. See my

At a glance these "slow" foods are:
Broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, artichoke, celery, cucumber, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, peppers, snow peas, spinach, summer squash, tomatoes, zucchini, yams, sweet potato, oatmeal, apples, oranges, peaches, plums, cherries, grapefruit, prunes,soy beans, mushrooms, bananas, apricots, grapes, kiwi, fettucini, linguini, spaghetti, macaroni, ravioli,vermicelli, peanuts, peanut M&M's, snickers, peas, custard, yogurt, garbanzo beans, chickpeas, black-eyed beans, navy beans, pinto beans, barley, pumpernickel bread, sourdough bread, Dark Rye bread, fruit bread, whole grain bread, multigrain breads, special K, all bran, porridge, long grain rice, brown rice and low fat icecream.
"Slow" drinks include:
Apple juice, grapefruit juice, orange juice, chocolate milk, skim milk, soy milk, cranberry juice, tomato juice, and carrot juice.
Food With A Glycemic Index Under 30
These "Very Low Glycemic foods" are: asparagus, artichoke, broccoli, celery, cucumber, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, peppers, snow peas, spinach, summer squash, tomatoes, zucchini, yams, cherries, grapefruit, prunes, barley, lentils, black beans, low-fat yogurt, whole milk, peanuts, kidney beans, soy beans, mushrooms, cauliflower, and zucchini.
