The Superfood-Guru has done the research for you and gives you what you want; Unbiased juicer reviews that are easy to understand at your finger tips. Scroll down to see three common types of juicers and what sets them apart.
Three Kinds Of Juicers

Centrifugal Juicer
Centrifugal juicers are by far the most common, and most affordable. They have the largest feeding chute of all juicers, allowing you to juice large produce without a lot of preparation. They are capable of juicing large quantities of fruits and vegetables making them family friendly. They're easy to clean except for the filter/screen that needs a little scrubbing to get clean. Unfortunately there are some limits to what can be juiced, and you also lose some nutritional value.
The centrifugal juicer first grinds the produce into a mush and then spins it at a very high rpm to strain the juice out of the pulp. It has a metal screen basket that catches the pulp and spins it much like the spin cycle on your washing machine. The pulp is extracted into a separate receptacle and the juice spills out into another container.
Due to the high rpm of the centrifugal force, air enters the juice and it tends to get "frothy". This is frustrating because sometimes, your juice ends up looking like a pint of beer, but more importantly it oxidizes the juice. The oxidation causes the juice to lose it's bright color and also some of the antioxidant properties. Much like a sliced apple quickly turns brown when left out.
Another down fall of this type of juicer is that it's not effective on grassy or leafy vegetables like wheatgrass, spinach, parsley, and other herbs. Unfortunately, these kinds of vegetables are some of the healthiest choices to juice. Those types of produce are better left to single and twin gear models.
Single Gear Juicer (Masticating)
Masticating juicers are more pricey and harder to clean, but they yield more nutritious juice without the foam and harmful oxidation caused by the centrifugal juicers. They're more versatile and have no problem juicing wheatgrass or leafy vegetables.
They work by grinding the fruits and vegetables using a single gear or auger to press the produce at a low rpm. This yields more juice because it's squeezed out leaving the pulp drier and the juice more intact with more vitamins, minerals, and enzymes the way nature intended.
Some single gear juicers have attachments that allow you to homogenize foods into sauces, nut butters, baby food, pasta, and even fruit sorbet. These attachements cost more but allow you to make a variety of fresh food in your own kitchen.
Twin Gear Juicer (Triturating)
The twin gear juicer is by far the most expensive on the market. It is an upgraded version of the single gear juicer and yields even more juice from the same produce. All of the benefits of the above masticating juicer are emphasized. It touts an even lower rpm which gives you less foam, less oxidation, and more living enzymes. They are preferred by health enthusiasts due to the high nutrient value and maximum efficiency.
Two gears grind the fruits and vegetables breaking the hard fibrous surface releasing practically all of the juice. They traditionally have slimmer chutes that require you to first chop your fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces first.
It operates slowly and carefully, so producing high amounts of juice takes time and patience. It's also heavier and bulkier than its less expensive counterparts.
On the plus side, it juices wheatgrass just as efficiently as the exclusive wheatgrass juicers. Like some single gear juicers, the twin gear style usually comes with attachments for baby food, pasta, nut butters, and numerous other uses.
Which One?
There's no doubt juicing is something that's healthy, but which one do you buy? Most juicer reviews come right out and tell you which one is the best. I've read those pages and I can tell you from experience that each one endorses a different brand/model. The important thing is that you find out what is right for you and your family and narrow it down.
I purposely left out the prices of these juicers because the range is so wide and ever changing. I urge you to do further research on your own before purchasing. I hope you enjoyed my juicer reviews and found it helpful. Happy Juicing!
